Does this sound familiar?
“They’re bright… but writing just isn’t clicking.”
“They avoid coloring and say their hand is tired.”
“Their preschool teacher mentioned pencil grasp.”
“Crumbling paper when they get frustrated is a habit.”
“Kindergarten feels close… and I’m not sure they’re ready.”
"Other kids can write their names."
It’s Not Too Late — And It’s Not Too Early
If writing feels hard right now, it doesn’t mean your child isn’t capable. It often means their hands need a little more support to match their bright ideas.
Early struggles with fine motor skills are common — and highly responsive to the right guidance. When we strengthen the foundation in a playful, supportive way, frustration decreases and confidence begins to grow.
You Just Need the Right Plan
This is not direct therapy services with your child— it’s guided coaching that equips you as the parent with a toolbox of practical strategies to build fine motor and early writing skills at home without worrying if they will fall behind or feeling unsure where to start.
You don't need complicated curriculums or more workbooks. You just need the right strategies and support.
Early Ink is a preschool parent coaching program designed to help you:
-Strengthen little hands through playful, practical activities
-Teach early writing skills in developmentally appropriate ways
-Build school readiness with confidence, not stress
-Coach parents so you feel empowered, not overwhelmed
Let's grow confident, capable writers - one little hand at a time!
About the Coach
I'm Brooke Robins, founder of Early Ink and a passionate advocate for helping little learners build strong foundations before they step into Kindergarten.
As an occupational therapist and mom, I've seen firsthand how fine motor skills and early writing confidence can shape a child's school experience.
I also know how overwhelming it can feel as a parent to worry about how you're supporting their development for success.
That's exactly why I created Early Ink!
Step 1: We Figure Out What’s Really Going On
In our first week, we look at:
-How your child holds a pencil
-How their hands are working
-Pre-writing shapes
-Name writing (if appropriate)
-Their cutting skills
-Everyday independence skills
You’ll finally understand:
Why writing feels hard.
Why they tire quickly.
Why cutting looks choppy.
Clarity replaces worry.
Step 2: We Strengthen the Right Skills
Instead of random crafts, we focus on what truly helps:
-Stronger fingers
-Better thumb support
-Using both hands together
-Smoother small movements
So your child can:
Control their pencil more easily
Color without ripping paper
Cut without frustration
Feel proud of what they make
You’ll start noticing small wins quickly.
Those small wins build big confidence and willingness to participate.
Step 3: We Make Writing Feel Doable
Before pushing letters, we make sure the basics are solid.
We practice:
-Prewriting lines and shapes
-Moving from big writing to smaller writing
-Gentle pencil pressure
-Better control inside boundaries
Then we build:
Confident name writing
Proper letter formation
Spacing and alignment basics
No bad habits.
No rushing.
Just steady progress.
Step 4: We Prepare for Real School Moments
Because kindergarten isn’t just about writing.
It’s about independence.
We practice:
-Buttons and zippers
-Opening snack containers
-Managing scissors and glue
-Following multi-step directions
-Sitting and completing tasks
By the final week, we put it all together so you can see how far they’ve come.
You won’t be guessing anymore.
You’ll know they’re ready.
